Why do my FTP username and control panel username differ?

Control Panel usernames can be much longer and can contain uppercase letters, but FTP usernames are required to be all lowercase and may not exceed 8 characters in length. When you create your account, the system automatically selects an available FTP username using the first 8 characters from your account username, in lowercase. If that name is in use, it will automatically change the 8th character to a number for you.

We cannot change your main FTP username or account name after the account is created.
